My Associates
Khoshrooz (Rooz) Kazemi, Master’s Counselling Psychology Student, Ph.D. (Civil Engineering).
I am currently a Registered Psychotherapist at the Qualifying level and in the final stages of completing my master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy through Yorkville University. I am also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Additionally, I hold a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Drawing on my extensive background as a researcher, engineer, and immigrant, I bring a unique perspective to my role as a counselor. My years of conducting research have honed my analytical skills, enabling me to navigate the complexities of individuals’ experiences with a keen eye for detail. As an engineer, I’ve cultivated a problem-solving mindset that complements my approach to helping clients unravel their own challenges. Additionally, my personal journey as an immigrant equips me with a profound understanding of cultural nuances, the complexities of adaptation, and the importance of fostering a sense of belonging. I leverage these diverse experiences to listen empathically, supportively, and without judgment, creating an atmosphere of comfort, warmth, togetherness, and trust. Beyond my counseling role, I have seamlessly integrated my experiences into my career, much like the threads of a tapestry, weaving together a rich and comprehensive approach to supporting those on their path to well-being.
Therapy Areas:
My primary area of interest lies in trauma and its potential sequelae, such as depression, anxiety, personality issues, self-esteem challenges, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, and parenting challenges. I approach therapy with a client-centered, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally sensitive lens. Drawing from therapeutic modalities such as CBT, ACT, and EFT, I tailor my approach to meet everyone's unique needs.
I am multilingual and can provide therapies to my clients in English, Persian (Farsi), Azeri and Turkish.
I look forward to meeting you and working together with you.
Thanks,
Rooz,
Khoshrooz

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hello, I’m Nihal — a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a graduate student in the final stages of completing my master’s in counselling psychology through Yorkville University. I also hold a degree in Child and Youth Care and have dedicated my professional journey to supporting individuals and families through challenges with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and care.
My background includes working with children, adolescents, and families in various roles, including mental health support and community-based services.. These experiences have deeply informed my therapeutic approach, helping me understand developmental needs, relational dynamics, and the importance of tailoring support to each client’s unique context.
As someone with lived experience as an immigrant and a visible minority, I bring a personal understanding of cultural identity, adjustment, and belonging. This has enriched my practice with a strong commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and client-centred care.
Therapy Areas:
My focus includes supporting clients through issues related to anxiety, depression, stress, emotional regulation, parenting, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), tailoring the work to suit each individual’s needs and goals.
I offer therapy in English and Turkish, and I strive to create a warm, safe, and collaborative space where clients feel truly heard and supported.
I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Warmly,
Nihal Soral
